The End Of The Fifth

I remember the 5th grade graduation

The gym stunk of old people
My body heated to the point of sweat

I could only see the ground in front of me
Practicing the steps i had to take

Shaking each teacher's hands as i passed them
Posing for the kneeling camera man

I could hear the principal speaking
But i was dazed until it was my turn to walk

My sholders felt heavy
Holding my body to the ground
